Curious Beauty 2024

CURIOUS BEAUTY: AN ALTERNATIVE COSTUME EXHIBITION, Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, 14 April – 16 June 2024

Caroline Tonna and Francesca Balzan, artistic directors of Curious Beauty: An Alternative Costume Exhibition, were commissioned by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti to reimagine historic dress and accessories within a contemporary curatorial concept at Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in Spring 2024.

Exquisite 18th and 19th century bodices, waistcoats, ensembles, bags, shoes, hats, gloves, corsets, and spectacles were transformed into striking art installations, thoughtfully integrated within the opulent rooms of the palazzo. In dialogue with the permanent collection and historic interiors, these fashionable artefacts from the past were given new life through imaginative and original displays, captivating visitors with their beauty and relevance.
