Ladies of Malta in Extravagant & Spectacular Lace 2013

Caroline Tonna collaborated with photographer Patrick J. Fenech to direct photo sessions and style 70 ladies from a broad cross-section of society and professions in the historic lace collection of Casa Rocca Piccola, showcasing the timeless beauty of Maltese lace. 

Ladies in Malta in Extravagant & Spectacular Maltese lace by Nicholas de Piro, is dedicated to the lacemakers of Malta and Gozo who in the past brought this art form to a level of sophistication  that made it desirable not only to the local population but also to fashionable members of international society.  The tradition of lace making continues today, adding pride and futher identity to the people of Malta. 

The 154-page publication features striking portraits of women styled in Maltese lace with a  contemporary flair, as well as poetry and essays, including Behind the Scenes by Caroline.

All proceeds from the book were donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund.
